boredom

surgery went fine. i feel pretty much back to normal after a week of very nice pain killers and lots of sleeping on the couch. i'm hoping the doctor will let me go back to work soon. one can only organize closets a number of times before going mad. after two and half weeks i'm ready to make my mind think again.

p.s. ryan's in idaho fighting wildfires. he started in nevada, but they moved him when that fire was extinguished. he'll be gone for at least two weeks - longer if he decides to sign on for another 2wk detail right away. i miss him loads.

Tomorrow is the big day. I'm finally getting my face fixed - that phrase compliments of my brother. Hopefully I'll be able to breathe after getting my deviated septum straightened and my tonsils removed. My team at work put together a care package for me - magazines, puzzle books, scrapbooking supplies, jello and pudding cups. They're a great group of women. I've also borrowed a few books from my sisters-in-law. Hopefully it all keeps me occupied for two weeks. If only I had internet at home...

weekend adventures

We started the weekend by seeing Evan Almighty Friday night. Ryan's choice. It was a pretty good movie.
Saturday we discovered city-wide garage sales while taking Gus for a walk. I am a big fan of a good garage sale. If you look hard enough there's lots of neat stuff. Like a flat screen computer monitor for $20. A great find after my monitor shelled out on me a couple weeks ago. I also purchased a nice, solid wood rocking chair for five bucks. Yeah, I know - me crotcheting in my
rocking chair. I've crossed the line into granny-dom. Oh well.
Saturday afternoon we had supper at my sister and brother-in-law's house. Afterward we stopped at the casino with Ryan's parents who stayed at house. The horses were running which was really exciting. I'd never seen a horse race before. I want to work there. Ride a lead horse. Or at least take a tour of the barns some Saturday morning.
Sunday morning I was thrilled to watch Ryan and his dad prepare a dishwasher to be installed in our kitchen. I don't mind housework, but I hate doing dishes. Course now I'll just hate emptying the dishwasher. Oh well.
We headed back to Ryan's sister's house to celebrate our nephew's first brithday. After the birthday party, our brother-in-law helped Ryan finish installing the dishwasher and build the cabinet. The best part - it was FREE! Ryan's dad is an appliance repairman. Someone bought a new dishwasher b/c this one was broken. My father-in-law fixed it and brought it with him
the last time they visited. I'm excited to make supper tonight just so I can wash the dirty dishes!
